Woah, this movie feels like it was buried in 2001 and someone just released it.

I can't wait until 2017, when this movie will be relevant.

I feel like after reading a few of the comments, people might be getting the wrong idea about this movie’s tone and direction. I’m pretty sure the whole thesis of the movie isn’t: “Man, if Democrats only had a rural rust belt type leader to insert their ideas and policies into, then they would win all over the ‘Flyover States’.” and is instead: “Man, White liberal democrats really don’t seem to care specifically about rural voter’s ideals, problems, lifestyles and cultural differences at all. They are really out of touch with so many people in more ‘rural’ states that it’s honestly hilarious how terrible they are. Maybe if those on the left would start worrying about helping people in these ‘rural’ states with the real issues that they currently have and worry about, then maybe they would get somewhere there politically. It’s not that the Democrats have the right message and the wrong framing device, but that they have a message and a framework that doesn’t work with 40-50% of voters in these states that feel like they’ve been abandoned by them and that is why they are often labeled costal elites.
TLDR: this isn’t a movie praising Democrats and their ideals/ideas, it’s one showing some of their most egregious failures as a political institution. Jon might be a “liberal” but I don’t think that means that he’s really happy with either party honestly. I think this’ll be a good movie and I do want to see it when it comes out.

Anyone wanna tell me why people are dragging this? It actually looks like a pretty relaxed comedy about politics. Only thing I can see is that it's weirdly named as Irresistible.
